Pattaya is known as Asia’s city of sin for a reason, and despite claims that it’s now a family friendly destination; you only have to ask some of Pattaya’s expat community to hear that it’s really not the case. While the gay scene in is changing rapidly and very different from what it was 10 or 15 years ago, there is still a lot of fun to be had in Gay Pattaya 2019. Pattaya has 3 main gay areas each with its own different style of entertainment. If you’re after a relaxing drink in an open-air environment, you can get that. If you want a cabaret show, check. If you want something a bit naughtier, well, there is plenty of that also. The main areas of Gay Pattaya are Boyz Town, Jomtien Complex and Sunee Plaza. There are also other pockets of gay activity and we will tell you about them here also.

Boyz Town is the ancestral home of gay Pattaya and that’s been the case for a good 30 years now. Although very different than it used to be, it’s certainly worth a trip. You can actually stay right in the middle of the action here if you wish with 2 gay hotels located on the street. These are The Ambiance Hotel and Copa Hotel. If we were to advise on which of these to stay at, we would recommend The Ambiance Hotel. The newest venue here which opened in late 2019, is Boyz Music. It’s a big open bar with live music. Drinks are a little pricey but it can be an entertaining experience. There is also a cabaret show bar, Castro Show Bar. If you want a drink outside, the open air Panorama Pub gives a great view of the street and great for people watching. There are 3 male gogo bars in Boyz Town. The biggest is the famous Boyz Boyz Boyz. There is also Toy Boy and Cupidol. That’s about it for Boyz Town, however, if you walk 2 streets over there are 3 more male gogo bars, X-Boys, Dream Boys and Kawaii Boy. Boyz Town can be a little quiet these days as people have found cheaper gay areas to spend their evenings. Having said that, for any new visitor to Pattaya Boyz Town is certainly worth a visit. Next up we have Sunee Plaza. While this area had 50 gay venues only 10 years ago, it’s nothing like that anymore. Sunee Plaza is known for being a little more on the naughty side with some very naughty gogo bars. There are 4 gogo bars here, Winner Boy, Nice Boys, Power Boys, and Eros. While we don’t feel it’s wise to discuss what can happen in these bars, what we will say is that these venues are not for the shy or conservative type. There are also 7 beer bars where you can sit out on the street and enjoy a cold one. Sunee Plaza is about a 10-minute walk from Boyz Town. It can be a little tricky to find however any motorbike taxi driver will be able to take you there. For more information on Sunee Plaza take a look at our destination guide by clicking here.
The newest and many would say the busiest and most popular area of gay Pattaya is Jomtien Complex. Located roughly 3km south of central Pattaya, this small street and surrounding area hosts over 20 gay bars. There really is nothing like this place anywhere in the world. Hundreds of attractive guys from all over southeast Asia work in the bars here. Drinks are very good value, there are 2 cabaret shows if that’s your thing, the newest being M2M Bar & Cabaret and also a host of great hotels. We wrote about places to stay in Jomtien Complex recently. Take a look here to find a place to stay when in Jomtien Complex. There are also a number of great places to eat here, both Thai and Western cuisines. For a real treat be sure to try out Yuppins located right in the heart of all the complex bars. You can take a look at our destination guide to Jomtien Complex here.

If massage is your thing, there are 3 male massage shops in Boyz Town, 3 in Jomtien Complex and a number scattered around the streets behind TukCom shopping mall. While most of this information is based on nightlife, Pattaya has many other exciting things to do and we have detailed them in our Pattaya Gay Travel Guide which you can read by clicking here.
Hopefully, this information provides insight to Gay Pattaya 2019 for both new visitors and returning ones also. As always if you think we have missed anything let us know in the comments and we will look into it.
