Silom Soi 4 – Gay Bangkok

Your guide to Bangkok’s main gay street, Silom Soi 4

Silom Soi 4 is the heart of the gay scene in Bangkok. Located in the heart of Silom and only a one minute walk from Sala Daeng BTS station it’s easy to get here from anywhere in Bangkok. This small soi is jam-packed with gay bars and restaurants with something to suit all tastes. As of May 2017, there is even a gay gogo bar here, Jupiter 2018.

Unlike many gay streets across the world, Silom Soi 4 is quite unique on how it’s seating works. Most of the bars have outside seating and all of this seating faces the street, usually in the combination of 2 chairs with a small table in the center. Walking along here is like being on a catwalk in a way, as you are in full eye shot of the many customers sitting outside, mainly with the bars Telephone and Balcony.

Silom Soi 4 is your essential spot for starting your evening out in Bangkok. The gay crowds flock here every night of the week for beers and cocktails before heading to the clubs, mainly the nearby DJ Station on Silom Soi 2.

If you are hungry there are many places to grab a bite to eat. You can treat yourself to some German cuisine at the excellent Gs Restaurant. If you enjoy Spanish food, Spanish on 4 have a fantastic selection of tapas. You can have a fancy meal at Folk & Cork or alternatively mingle with the crowds at Telephone Bar & Restaurant or Balcony Bar. Both venues have a fantastic selection of Thai and Western dishes.

Soi Twilight, or by its Thai name, Soi Pratuchai is located in the district of Silom, central Bangkok. Located off Surawong Road very close to the BTS and Patpong night market.

By BTS Sky Train: The closest BTS station to Soi Twilight is Sala Daeng (BTS Code S2) on the Silom BTS Green Line. On exiting the station, walk up Thaniya Road. At the top of the road take a left. After one minute walk, Soi Twilight will be on the other side of the street. You can’t miss the neon signs.

Taxi: Ask any taxi driver for Patpong. It’s pronounced the same way it’s read, PAT-PONG. Your best bet it to say PAT-PONG THA-NON SURA-WONG. This will put you about a minute away on foot. Alternatively, if you are a little more comfortable with taxi driver communication, you can ask for RAYA HOTEL, THA-NON SURA-WONG. This hotel is right next to the entrance to Soi Twilight.

GrabTaxi: In the mobile app you can search and find The Raya Hotel, Thanon Surawong Road. This is essentially at the entrance to Soi Twilight.
